I settled in the quiet beauty of Hendersonville, North Carolina, just as the mountains of Western North Carolina began to welcome a new wave of visitors. The cool air, rolling hills, and peaceful pace felt like the perfect place to put down roots. In the early 2000s, I bought a home on a secluded street called Private Cove Lane and started building a life here—running a couple of small home-based businesses, just as I had done before.

Over the years, I had started four different thriving businesses and sold each one to loyal employees who were ready to take the reins. That entrepreneurial spirit never really left me. One day, while working from home and watching the steady growth of tourism in the area, an idea took hold: what if I could turn three connected storage sheds on my property into something special for travelers?

That simple idea became the beginning of Featherstone Guest Cottage. The little cottage quickly found its audience on VRBO. Guests loved the cozy charm, thoughtful details, and peaceful setting. Word spread, and soon my neighbors behind me decided to sell their house. I bought it, saw the potential beneath years of wear, and poured my heart into a full restoration. What emerged was the beautiful Featherstone Farmhouse—a warm, welcoming retreat that felt like stepping into a story of its own.

Not long after, the house right beside mine came up for sale. I couldn’t resist. With vision, hard work, and a lot of love, it too was transformed into the Featherstone Lodge, another unique home designed for memorable vacations.

Today, all three properties—the Guest Cottage, the Farmhouse, and the Lodge—sit together on peaceful Private Cove Lane, creating what guests affectionately call the Featherstone compound. Each home tells its own story, filled with one-of-a-kind decorations and treasures I collected during my earlier nomadic travels across America. Throughout the journey, I’ve had two very special companions by my side: Cooper and Izzy—my loyal lab mixes who have been my best friends and constant source of joy. While Cooper has since crossed the rainbow bridge, sweet Izzy is still here, ready to greet you with a wagging tail and that unconditional love only a dog can give.
